Day of the Dead

After getting off the plane yesterday I went straight to the Day of the Dead celebration in Barra de Navidad. What a beautiful way to remember, honor and 'spend time' with deceased loved ones. Families put so much effort and love into building the alters. I teared up a few times because it was so touching.

Translation: Here lies pride, arrogance, vanity, lust and power. All good things to lay to rest.

Tucker finally got to wear his shirt. :)

Made it to Mexico

There's nothing like arguing with an airline and almost missing your flight. If you've read my previous posts you'll know I almost missed my flight coming home from Mexico in July because I had a few challenges getting Karma the rescue puppy on the plane. This flying experience was no different. This time Westjet had a problem with Tucker's carrier. First they said it wasn't airline approved. They told me I could go home, buy another carrier and rebook my flight for another day. Um no I don't think so. I told them I just flew with the same carrier a month ago with Air Canada and they didn't have a problem with it. I was not impressed. It was 4:30 am and I'd barely had any sleep. I'm already a nervous flyer, add hungry and tired to that and I'm not fun to deal with. After going through two agents and a supervisor, I finally got the approval for the carrier. Then another issue came up. I was booked to fly with Tucker in the cabin with me, the way we always fly, with him under the seat in front of me. Nope that wasn't going to happen this time. Westjet only allows soft-sided carriers in the cabin. Seems I was misinformed when I booked my ticket. I told the booking agent that he was going to be in a hard sided carrier and she said no problem. Yes it was a problem. He wasn't allowed on the plane with me. I was told he had to fly in cargo. Now I was really pissed. I hadn't sedated him and I knew it would be hell for him but if I wanted to go to Mexico I had to put him in cargo. I couldn't argue my way out of that one. I handed him over and felt terrible the whole flight knowing he was probably freaking out. On top of that he had to deal with Yoda the snoring Pug being in cargo with him lol

Tucker was in his carrier for about 10 hours because we had a 2 hour stopover in Calgary before heading to Manzanillo. I wasn't happy. I'll be sending an email to Westjet tomorrow, informing them of how upset I was over this. If he was sedated and slept through most of it I wouldn't of felt so bad.

Tucker arriving with the luggage.
Tucker sure was excited to see me once we landed in Mexico. He was so happy to get out of the carrier. Poor guy, but I'm sure he's forgotten all about it. I wish we could all be like that. Just forget the crappy things and move on. I'll do that as soon as I send Westjet my email. ;)

Hello Mexico. Adina's back.

Boo!

Last night for Halloween I somehow thought putting on a mustache and men's underwear was a good idea. Actually I think the costume turned out really well. I dressed up as Snow Walter White, a combo of Snow White and Walter White from the show Breaking Bad. I made my own 'blue meth' by smashing up some blue Push Pop's with a hammer. My meth was 99% pure, pure sugar!

I'd say half the people in the pub had seen the show and understood the costume, the other half just thought I was some strange woman walking around sporting Fruit of the Loom's just for the fun of it. Here's a pic of me in all my sexy Walter White glory. Oh and I cut my hair short by the way. No long hair for Mexico, yay. Leaving tomorrow!

I'd better start packing, what a mess! Procrastination at it's finest...

(Yes I'm bringing a Day of the Dead t-shirt and pirate costume for Tucker lol)

Karma is doing great!

I'm pleased to report that Karma, the rescue puppy I brought back from Mexico is doing really well. She's grown a lot and is a happy, healthy girl. When I first got her the couple I got her from said she was a Chihuahua. She's definitely not a Chihuahua! She's gotten really big now. She's much bigger than my Chihuahua Tucker. They had so much fun playing together. It was great to see.

Her new owner fosters rescued animals, so she'll always have lots of cats and dogs to play with. It all turned out so well. :)
