Back in Melaque

After a week of fun and excitement in Puerto Vallarta, I needed to go somewhere quieter and less crowded. So I headed to Melaque. For many years, I have been coming to this town and to the neighboring town Barra de Navidad. However, things have changed a bit this year since I now have an ex-husband in one town and an ex-boyfriend in another. Now it looks like I'll be sharing paradise with them and their girlfriends. This should be interesting. I should definitely have my own reality show...

Feliz Navidad!

The beach is my backdrop for Christmas day in Puerto Vallarta. Life is good! Merry Christmas everyone.

PV Day 1

The flight was delayed and the landing was scary, but I made it to Puerto Vallarta last night.Getting up this morning, I couldn't wait to get outside, soak up some sunshine, and explore the town. The step counter on my phone shows that I walked 10 kilometers today. Quite a few steps and stairs were climbed today. I had the best day ever.

I started my day with a peppermint tea on my balcony and breakfast at the buffet.  Then After that, I went for a walk around the Zona Romantica district. After walking for a while and taking a siesta in the afternoon, I enjoyed a nice beachside dinner at my hotel. A late-night game of Yahtzee beside the pool rounded out my day. It was pretty much the perfect day in paradise for me. It's great to be here.

Cheers!

I hope the bubbly vaccine concoction I just drank will help prevent travellers diarrhea caused by E.coli in Mexico. I was fortunate to only need a booster dose for this trip. Rather than taking two doses of Dukoral, I had to take only one. The prep is shown in this video. I only needed three attempts to get it down. Go me!

Back by popular demand

After a hiatus, I'm back to share the rollercoaster that was my past year. It brought loss, love, heartbreak, the joy of a new grandchild, turning 50, relocating to a different city and becoming a homeowner again – a mix of the best and worst of times.

Last winter, grieving my mom's passing and then going through a breakup while in Barra de Navidad, I didn’t feel like blogging. I only posted a highlight video. Sadly, Frida, the rescue dog in that video, succumbed to Ehrlichia (a disease transmitted by ticks). Despite my efforts, she couldn't be saved. Amid my sadness, I found a silver lining by helping a Doberman puppy find a loving home.

Fast forward to today, and I'm in a much happier space, getting ready for a three month trip to Mexico, starting in Puerto Vallarta. Last year's trip was clouded by grief, but I'm back to my cheerful and adventurous self, anticipating lots of fun, live music, dancing, meeting new people, delicious food, exploring markets, and sightseeing. I can’t wait!
