Made it to Mexico

There's nothing like arguing with an airline and almost missing your flight. If you've read my previous posts you'll know I almost missed my flight coming home from Mexico in July because I had a few challenges getting Karma the rescue puppy on the plane. This flying experience was no different. This time Westjet had a problem with Tucker's carrier. First they said it wasn't airline approved. They told me I could go home, buy another carrier and rebook my flight for another day. Um no I don't think so. I told them I just flew with the same carrier a month ago with Air Canada and they didn't have a problem with it. I was not impressed. It was 4:30 am and I'd barely had any sleep. I'm already a nervous flyer, add hungry and tired to that and I'm not fun to deal with. After going through two agents and a supervisor, I finally got the approval for the carrier. Then another issue came up. I was booked to fly with Tucker in the cabin with me, the way we always fly, with him under the seat in front of me. Nope that wasn't going to happen this time. Westjet only allows soft-sided carriers in the cabin. Seems I was misinformed when I booked my ticket. I told the booking agent that he was going to be in a hard sided carrier and she said no problem. Yes it was a problem. He wasn't allowed on the plane with me. I was told he had to fly in cargo. Now I was really pissed. I hadn't sedated him and I knew it would be hell for him but if I wanted to go to Mexico I had to put him in cargo. I couldn't argue my way out of that one. I handed him over and felt terrible the whole flight knowing he was probably freaking out. On top of that he had to deal with Yoda the snoring Pug being in cargo with him lol

Tucker was in his carrier for about 10 hours because we had a 2 hour stopover in Calgary before heading to Manzanillo. I wasn't happy. I'll be sending an email to Westjet tomorrow, informing them of how upset I was over this. If he was sedated and slept through most of it I wouldn't of felt so bad.

Tucker arriving with the luggage.
Tucker sure was excited to see me once we landed in Mexico. He was so happy to get out of the carrier. Poor guy, but I'm sure he's forgotten all about it. I wish we could all be like that. Just forget the crappy things and move on. I'll do that as soon as I send Westjet my email. ;)

Hello Mexico. Adina's back.
