Memorable Moments

My 2018/19 winter season in Mexico was an emotional whirlwind. But despite the challenges, I found joy in exploring beautiful places, rescuing dogs, and spending time with friends. These experiences brightened a tough year, and created unforgettable memories - for that I'm grateful.

 

Memorable Moments & New Beginnings

 

It's time to head home. My two rescue dogs and I are about to leave to catch our flight to Victoria. These fortunate pups have loving new homes waiting for them - one in Duncan and the other in Chemainus. I'm happy they'll be nearby so I can visit them.

This trip has been full of amazing experiences and unforgettable moments. From the culture and delicious food to meeting some of the kindest people, every aspect of this adventure has been wonderful.

Farewell for now, Mexico. Thank you for the memories. I can't wait to come back and create even more.

Scruffy New Friend

There's a new passenger with us on our trip back to Melaque. 

Today, while walking along the boardwalk in Chapala, I came across three puppies playing in the dirt. Naturally being the dog nut that I am,  I went over to see them. None of the male puppies wanted to come to me because they were too scared. Nevertheless, the scruffy female jumped on my lap and started licking my face. As soon as I picked her up, I decided she was coming back to Melaque with me, and I would find her a good home. 

Fortunately, my travel companion is an animal lover, and she didn't object to travelling with a smelly flea-ridden bundle of love. 

I love giving these stray dogs a chance at a great life. 

 

Creepy Writers Room

Leaving Guanajuato earlier than planned, I headed back to Melaque through Chapala and stayed at Quinta Quetzalcoatl Boutique Hotel. Due to a booking mix-up, I was upgraded to the D.H. Lawrence room, where he wrote 'The Plumed Serpent'. The room was beautiful, but I felt like I was being watched all night, which made it difficult to sleep. Despite this, I would happily return for another stay - perhaps in a different room.

Charming San Miguel de Allende

Today I took a day trip to San Miguel de Allende, a town rich in history and charm. Known for its colonial architecture, lively arts community, and quaint cobblestone streets, San Miguel de Allende captivated me. I can't wait to come back and uncover more of its beauty and historical treasures.
